Key Technical Features
Motor and Speed Control
The Copperhead has an independent motor supply housed in a 1.8kg solid aluminum block, completely detached from the plinth to reduce vibration transfer.
It uses a 16V low torque motor regulated by an AC regenerating circuit, allowing fine adjustment for accurate 33.3rpm and 45rpm speeds.
The outboard speed controller is housed in an aluminum chassis and achieves a very low wow and flutter of 0.16%, making it one of the most accurate speed controls available.
Bearing and Platter
The central bearing is a two-piece solid stainless steel assembly with a copper bushing, ceramic ball bearing, and Teflon thrust plate for smooth rotation and low friction.
The bearing cap includes silicone dampening rings to reduce vibration between the bearing and the aluminum platter.
The bearing sits on a 20mm acrylic anti-vibration disc, isolated from the plinth by PA-66 nylon and stainless steel screws, effectively decoupling the bearing and platter from the plinth to minimize standing wave vibration.
The platter is machined from aluminum billet, diamond-cut on the top surface and contoured underneath to dissipate vibration.
Plinth and Isolation
The plinth is made from solid aluminum with a satin black finish and is supported by three large POM feet that absorb vibration.
The plinth construction uses a combination of aluminum, POM, acrylic, and pure copper slugs to deaden vibrations effectively.
Tonearm and Accessories
The Copperhead comes standard with the Zavfino Aeshna tonearm, available in carbon or aluminum, with a second arm socket to accommodate other manufacturers’ arms up to 10.5 inches.
The package includes accessories such as a tonearm cable ("The Spirit"), spike shoes, gloves, a cardboard alignment template, and a technometer for speed measurement.
Sound and Performance
The Copperhead is praised for its neutral and accurate sound with good dynamic contrast and frequency extension.
It balances neutrality with enough edge and bite to reveal recording details without becoming harsh or analytical.
It competes well with other high-end turntables in its price range, offering excellent value for its performance
