Aurex Toshiba Origins

Aurex is a sub-brand of Toshiba that was used to market high-end products. The origins of Aurex as a brand can be traced back to the early 1980s when Toshiba revived the former company name to distinguish its premium product line from its standard offerings.

Toshiba, originally named Aurex, has a history that dates back to 1875. In the early 1980s, Toshiba used the name Aurex again to highlight its high-end devices. Aurex was known for producing high-quality turntables, including the SR-510E, which is now rare and highly sought after. Additionally, Aurex produced various models of loudspeakers, tape decks, and other audio equipment.

Regarding turntables, Aurex models like the SR-630 were reportedly OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) built by Micro Seiki. Despite this, Aurex continued to produce and distribute turntables under its own brand name, catering to audiophiles with a focus on quality and performance.
