Bauer Audio Origins
The origins of Bauer Audio, the manufacturer of DPS turntables, can be traced back to Willibald Bauer, a sound inventor based in Munich. Bauer Audio was founded with the goal of creating a record player that combines the best of both analog and digital worlds. Inspired by the Ayre Acoustics D-1 CD player, which offered pitch stability and a certain “something” that analog enthusiasts appreciated, Bauer aimed to develop a turntable that could address the known weaknesses of LP technology while maintaining the unique qualities of analog sound.
The DPS turntable series, including the DPS 3, embodies this vision. The design focuses on achieving pitch stability and minimizing jitter through a combination of a light, low-resonance acrylic platter and a stiff bearing. The high-torque synchronous motor is designed to run more evenly and quietly, contributing to the overall stability and performance of the turntable. The DPS series is known for its clear, natural sound, neutrality, and stability, making it one of the best turntables in the world according to some reviews.
