Coloney Audio Origins
The Coloney audio company, which manufactured the 101 turntables, has its origins rooted in the engineering firm Wayne H. Coloney Company in Tallahassee, USA. In the late 1970s, Lew Eckhart introduced the turntable concept to this firm. Wayne Coloney, the founder of the engineering firm, decided to manufacture the turntable, and Bruce Thigpen was appointed as the project engineer. However, when Wayne H. Coloney Company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1982, the turntable inventory was sold and rebranded as Mapleknoll. This led Bruce Thigpen to start his own company, Eminent Technology, in the same year.
