Commonwealth Origins
Commonwealth Electronics Pty. Ltd. originated in Hobart, Tasmania following World War Two. The company was involved in manufacturing broadcast quality turntables, portable communications equipment, and a clockwork tape recorder. They operated from 1950 to 1966, focusing on producing precision broadcast quality transcription turntables, tone arms, and portable tape recorders. In 1966, the company was acquired by Philips.
