The turntable supports speeds of 33 1/3 and 45 rpm and comes with a new AT-VM95E cartridge in some listings. However, it may require some maintenance or repairs, such as replacing the belt or cleaning the contacts where the cartridge connects to the tonearm, to function properly. Some users have reported issues with the speed adjustment and the stacking spindle not functioning correctly. Additionally, the SM840 motor, which is specific to the 1249 model, can have a double-speed issue when operating on 120V, 60Hz power, causing the platter to spin at approximately twice the normal speed. This issue can be mitigated by selecting the 45 rpm speed, manually positioning the tonearm, and then switching to 33 1/3 rpm before lowering the arm.
