Additional information

The Dual Primus Maximus is a high-end, limited edition reference turntable handmade in Germany, known for combining advanced historical Dual technologies with modern refinements. Key technical features include:

  • Drive: High precision direct-drive motor engineered for stable, low-vibration operation, optimized for audiophile playback rather than DJ torque.

  • Speed Settings: 33, 45, and 78 RPM, with wow and flutter synchronization fluctuations under ±0.04% (DIN weighted), ensuring very stable speed.

  • Platter: Solid aluminum, about 2.7 kg in weight, machined from a single block with a blasted and anodized finish; diameter approx. 304 mm.

  • Tonearm: Twin gimbal design with spring-loaded, massless tracking force adjustment via a torsion brass spring; fully cardanic with precision pivot ball bearings and hardened steel spikes.

  • Effective Tonearm Length: 221 mm, Overhang: 18.5 mm, Offset Angle: 24°.

  • Cartridge: Factory-installed Ortofon Quintet Bronze moving coil cartridge.

  • Plinth: A combination of solid MDF with a heavy 10 mm aluminum baseplate for mounting platter, motor, and tonearm to isolate vibrations; finished with individually selected real wood veneers.

  • Feet: Ø 60 mm elastomer, height adjustable.

  • Dimensions: 450 x 370 x 155 mm (closed dustcover), open dustcover height 405 mm.

  • Weight: Approximately 15 kg.

  • Special features: Direct plug to RCA cable for tonearm output; no digital output; built for precise analog audio quality.

  • Power: External power supply with universal input and low power consumption (~3W during playback).

The turntable exemplifies technical refinement and craftsmanship with an emphasis on vibration control, precise speed regulation, and a well-balanced tonearm system, delivering a premium analog listening experience in a very limited quantity (only 100 pieces made).
