The JC Verdier La Platine turntable is known for its unique design and high-end performance16. 

• Magnetic Bearing System: It uses massive magnets to create a "floating platter," which isolates the platter from mechanical disturbances1267. This design obviates the need for a thrust bearing.

• Platter: The platter is made of high-grade aluminum and weighs approximately 16 kg to 20 kg.

• Plinth: The base consists of a hollow metacrylic plinth with three sprung feet for support. The plinth is made of cast Granito. The sprung feet support diaphragms that house the top plate, using air dampening to compensate for downward pressure.

• Motor: It features an individualized motor drive system. JC Verdier uses a string drive with the motor placed in a separate housing to isolate it from the turntable. The motor is a low inertia Philips motor.

• Drive: It is belt-driven, but the magnetic bearing reduces bearing and surface noise. Some users find that a thread drive is better than a belt.

• Tonearm: The tonearm is mounted on an aluminum board. It can accommodate up to two tonearms. SME tonearms, like the SME M2-12R and SME 5, are recommended.
