Additional information
The Michell Gyro SE turntable is a compact and refined version of the iconic Michell GyroDec, designed to offer high-quality sound in a more affordable package.
Key Features
Plinth and Suspension: The Gyro SE uses a three-point acrylic "spider" plinth instead of the full-sized acrylic plinth found in the GyroDec. This design supports a suspended stable sub-chassis, which hangs on three suspension springs, providing a rigid platform for the main bearing, platter, and tonearm assembly.
Platter: It features a massive acrylic/vinyl platter with gold-plated brass weights, enhancing its inertia and reducing wow-and-flutter.
Bearing: The turntable incorporates an inverted oil-circulating main bearing, which ensures smooth operation by fully lubricating the bearing assembly.
Motor and Drive: The Gyro SE uses a free-standing motor unit connected to the turntable via a drive belt, minimizing vibration transfer.
Tonearm Compatibility: It does not come with a tonearm as standard but offers custom arm boards for most tonearms, with the Michell Tecnoarm 2 being a suggested option.
Sound Quality and Build
Sound Characteristics: The Gyro SE delivers a beautifully balanced, subtle, and organic sound with impressive levels of subtlety and insight. It provides a cohesive, fluid, and smooth sound with excellent dynamic presentation.
Build Quality: The turntable boasts high build quality, requiring minimal maintenance, and is available in both black and silver finishes.
